EC blocks SSP Kharel’s transfer

30 May, Kathmandu: Finally, the Election Commission (EC) has blocked the home minister Bamdev Gautam’s decision to transfer SSP Ramesh Kharel from the Chief of Kathmandu Police to the Nepal Police headquarters. Earlier, the home ministry had sought EC’s nod to transfer SSP Kharel.

A meeting of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Commissioners held today rejected the government’s request for SSP Ramesh Kharel’s transfer saying that the election code of conduct for June 22 constituent assembly (CA) by election has come into enforcement. The home ministry’s move was dragged into controversy following the criticism from all walks of lives.
